5.e-Library

E-Library is otherwise known as Electronic library, Online library or Internet library. It is the digital collection of online databases including texts, images, books, reading materials etc. These media formats are accessible through the internet. Virtual learning enhanced through the use of E-libraries. No physical restrictions, at one time more than one person can access the same material, easy to use at anywhere, conservation and preservation for the future, no limitation of Space, global level attention to the regional books these are the prime key features or advantages of E-library. When it comes to the drawbacks, health hazards like eye itching, pain and other radiation problems from the monitor, when there is no network that is not accessible to anyone, lack of E-knowledge, authenticity of the material etc. Z-Library, National Digital Library of India (NDLI), Open Library, World Bank e-library etc are the famous e library platforms that one can access freely.

Digital libraries provide the students with the convenience of learning at their own comfort. Students can access and read the library materials in various digital formats (eBooks, audio books, videos on demand 24 hrs/day) anytime and anywhere. Instant access to resources, there is no luxury such as having access to abundant knowledge and relevant information pertaining to specific subjects. A Digital library cuts short the time and effort one would put into visiting a conventional library and finding the right book. With options like in-built content search with only a few keywords or titles, searching for what you need from thousands of resources becomes easy. Unlike conventional libraries, digital libraries enable readers to access digital resources over the internet using any device like computers, mobile devices, or tablets. Digital libraries combine technology and information resources to allow remote access, breaking down the physical barriers between resources. Although these resources will remain specialized to meet the needs of specific communities of learners, digital libraries will allow teachers and students to take advantage of wider ranges of materials and communicate with people outside the formal learning environment. This will allow more integration of the different types of learning. Although not all students or teachers in formal learning settings will use information resources beyond their circumscribed curriculum and not all professionals will want to interact even occasionally with novices, digital libraries will allow learners of all types to share resources, time and energy, and expertise to their mutual benefits.
