I joined as faculty in English in Christ Nagar College of Education, Thiruvallam, Trivandrum, Kerala State after almost a two year break from teaching following my retirement from government service. In April 2022, when the teacher educator of the English Optional Ms. Manjusha went on study leave for acquiring a PhD degree, a former colleague of mine called me up and suggested that I engage sessions for two batches of trainees and prepare them for the forthcoming University examination scheduled for June 2022. With a lurking fear of catching Covid, I reluctantly offered to help without haggling for the pay offered.
Two months quickly
passed and the
management represented by the
Director, Fr.Sony Sebastian, requested me to continue
till they find a replacement, a qualified hand. Two
hours a day
was less strenuous
and I accepted the offer. By June,
I had
begun to like
the batch of first
year trainees who were
quite receptive
to the content
transacted. So by July when I suggested to them to leave a digital
foot print by launching
of a Blog, the
first year batch (2021-23)
wholeheartedly consented. They christened the Blog MERAKI
(a Greek word meaning
‘ Labour of Love’ and designed a logo too…
